John's Story
Life
After graduating HHS in 1989 I went off to Auburn University with a few other classmates. I gave them four good years, and was commissioned into the Navy on graduation day. After giving the Navy their four years, I decided it was not for me and came home to Nashville and have been here since. For me, seeing the world only confirmed what I already knew. Other places are nice to visit, but here is where I want to be.
Since getting out of the Navy in 1997 I have been hunting for a civilian career that suits my abililty. I think I have found my calling as an anesthetist. As of winter of 2007 I am in my last semester of nursing school at MTSU and look forward to starting work as a critical care nurse in July. I will have to work at least one year, and then can apply for graduate school. With some luck, I will be accepted to a program in the Nashville area. If not, I am ready to move.
Still not married, and no children. There are many of us from the class of 1989 who are still in the area and we do a good job of staying in touch with each other. t from the class of '89, it is no excuse for keeping a low profile.
I still enjoy the same outdoorsy type activities I liked in my younger days. I have gotten much more involved in canoeing. The bug bit me so hard I have two canoes (whitewater and flatwater) as well as the gear for winter paddling. Poor weather is no excuse! If there are any boaters out there, let's go paddling!
I joined Classmates to keep up with folks from "back in the day" and would enjoy learning what you are up to these days. That is extra true for those of you I did not get the chance to know very well. I may not have known you, but I almost certainly know your name. Hendersonville just was not that big of a place in our day.
College
If you were part of the Auburn Univeristy NROTC or the Mariners Auxiliary from 1989-1993, I would enjoy hearing from you.
Military
I spent four years on active duty from 1993 to 1997. Most of that time was aboard the USS Klakring (FFG-42). I would enjoy hearing from anyone who served on Klakring while I was aboard. Even if I did not know you, I still consider you a shipmate. If anyone has contact info on other members of the Wardroom from 1995-1997, please pass it on.
