John's Story

Life After graduating from Irvin I immediately attended college at UTEP. I was already working at the Fort Bliss Officer's Club and continued to work there during my first three years of college. Becoming tired of school I got a job with the State of Texas working for the Dept. of Public Welfare. I met Estela Molina while working at the Dept. of Public Welfare, and we dated for over a year and a half. I applied to attend the University of Texas at Austin. I resumed my college education at UT in the Fall of 1974 graduating with a B.A., in December 1975. After a trip out West with two friends I returned to Austin to live and work. niversity of Houston. After she broke off our engagement I completed Law School graduating in 1980. I was got a job with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and returned to live and work in Austin. I became engaged to Linda Maeder but the engagement did not work out. In 1984 I got a job in private practice. I worked for that law firm for over four years and then became corporate counsel for a large insurance company. The insurance company began a massive layoff of its corporate counsel in 1993 and I was one of the first to go. I started my own practice here in Austin. I met Lynda Gallien the first year I went out on my own and we married in 1995. I continue to practice law in Austin.
