John's Story

Hi, after graduation, got Associates degree from Salt Lake Trade Tech in Machine Shop Practice. Went to work for Sperry working on the Sargent Missile. Went on a mission to Scotland. Attended the University of Utah and got a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Married Helene Goebel, (South High in the Salt Lake Temple). Got a job at Eimac in Salt Lake ...later changed name to Varian Medical Systems, designing X-Ray Tubes for 45 years. Got Masters of Engineering Administration at University of Utah. Got Professional Engineering (PE) license for state of Utah. Got Structural Engineer professional license for Utah. Served term...Expand for more
as Chairman of Utah Engineers Council. Bishop for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, ...twice. Served last four years as volunteer missionary for LDS Church at the Layton LDS Employment Resource Center. Recently had 50th Wedding Anniversary. Five children; two in Florida, one in Holcomb, Kansas and two in the Salt Lake Area. Composed a cantata, love to golf and getting kind'a gimpy moving around. My most influential teacher at Granite was Mary Mason who taught me the love of reading. Cancer survivor. My most favorite word is ACCEPTANCE. I accept all people exactly as they are, regardless of past, present or future.
