John's Story
Life
Following graduation I entered the Air Force and became an aircraft mechanic. In '78 I met Ginger at a church camp and we were married the following year. I spent the next 12 years repairing large cargo aircraft at bases in Hawaii and California. In '87 I earned a BS in Occupational Education and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in '89. After training at 3 bases, we moved to South Dakota, where I began leading B-1B maintenance organizations. In '91, while in South Dakota, our daughter was born. O SOONERS!!). Following retirement from active duty in '02 we moved to Idaho and finally settled down. Since retiring I have kept busy with substitute teaching, alignment and brake repair, and building maintenance and construction. I finally decided to get a real job and accepted my current position managing warehouse operations at Idaho State Police headquarters.
Other than work, I keep busy with volunteering at several organizations, raising a teenage daughter, maintaining and improving my relationship with my wife (30 years in '09!!), and trying to keep my fleet of aging vehicles running (vice making car payments). I also enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, and occassionally whitewater rafting.
