John's Story
I left Madison in August, 1967, to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau to study history and to obtain a degree in secondary education. After graduating from SEMO in 1971, I started teaching at Mehlville Senior High in South St. Louis County and taught history their for 30 years with two years at St. Louis University High School. e University of Missouri St. Louis and Missouri Baptist University. Currently I am working for St. Clair County, Illinois and Cooperating School District of St. Louis' as a program consultant with their Teaching American Grants. I continue to work with teachers in history-education professional development.
I have three children and and two step-children. Bonnie, my wife, and I are blessed with eleven beautiful grandchildren. We spend many weekends in Piedmont, Missouri, on the Black River watching our families grow.
