John's Story

Life: My Spouse Met Bonnie in college, at a "mixer" (remember them?) at Moore College of Art in Philly, after being introduced ("set up?") by her classmate Louise Pollack (Blauveltians should remember her). We had a great life together, with lots of travel both international and domestic (primarily New England--both of our children were baptized in Nantucket). Unfortunately, Bonnie passed away in August 2018, just four months shy of our 50th wedding anniversary). Lots of fond memories, to say the least. I miss her so much. Thank goodness for family and friends... College After TZHS, I went to the University of Pennsylvania in Philly (where I still live....great city!). After four years of teaching at New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY (the Draft Board loved that!) I got my MS in International Economics from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service,. My Kids Blake has been involved in the restaurant industry, which in Philly has grown up in leaps and bounds over the years. Presently, he is challenged by the Covid-19 crisis...but then again, who hasn't been? Bailey wa...Expand for more
s adopted as an infant from Chile (once all the paperwork was completed, I actually picked her up at the US Embassy in Santiago in 1985 before us both jetting back to the States.) She graduated from Colgate University. and is currently completing a Masters program in education at Drexel University. My Job After spending many years in international banking, primarily developing correspondent relationships with foreign banks in South America and Eastern Europe, I moved over to "the other side" and joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, where, until I retired in 2017 after 25 years, I examined and analyzed the overseas activities of US banks for the Federal Reserve System. My assignments have taken me around the world many times, although I have grown to love Brazil the best (well, actually I fell in love with Brazil the very first time I arrived there in 1979.....). Caipirinhas anyone? Saddest TZ-related event remains the 2002 passing of our Class President and best friend, Bruce Buglione ("Bugs"). He has always been greatly missed (especially his hearty laugh and unique personality).
