John's Story
Since career and success were my dreams, I went for it with gusto. I achieved "top salesman" for six years in Sears's Appliance Dept. but that was not enough, there just had to be more. I launched a new store of my own, Appliances Unlimited, on Williamson St, in Madison, and soon doubled my income but that did not satisfy either. I went after the thrills in learning to fly. It too was not enough. Took on flying aerobatics and competed in competition. Some mishaps occurred that I had to admit that without Divine intervention I'd no longer be among the living. In time I finally yielded to Jesus as the CEO of my destiny. I can't fully explain the increase of joy and freedom I've been expierencing as I learn to yield even more and more of my will over to His divine leading. This resurrected Jesus has demonstrated to me His concern and love in walking through a divorce holding me up, then provided Nancy,"the greatest wife in the world," for twenty years now. He has proven His loving care in healing me of a badly damaged disc in my back and eliminated all the pain, then Lymphoma Cancer that had spread in my body ( totally healed now for 18 years), delivered me from a addiction of thirty year...Expand for more
s that I had absolutely given up ever getting free from, and answerd cries for help in finances, personal conflicts, a class action court case on my business and fears of the future. Last June, I was impressed to go on my fifth short term mission trip. This one was to Mozambique, Africa, to visit Iris Ministries. They rescue young children that are thieves and in prostitution and live in and eat at the local garbage dump because their parents can't afford to keep them. Many from their orphanage of rescued little ones that have learned and followed Jesus are now pastoring and teaching at over 6,000 churches started by the couple that started this effort about 12 years ago, Heidi and Roland Baker. I went with them into the "bush" to isolated small Muslim villages where they brought food, medical care and preached the Gospel and prayed for the blind and deaf who immediately saw and heard. I was able to help and was amazed that Jesus brought sight to a blind man after my fourth prayer for him..what excitement and joy to work with Jesus. I sure have things to work on in my life but He is faithfull to carry me when I can't anymore. Have you yielded to His loving care and direction yet?
