John's Story

I was called "professor" in high school, but was actually not that great a student. I attended Wright State part time from 1977-89 without graduating, worked for UDRI, then started my own computer software company - which never made any money. However, it led to a career as a magazine writer, first for WINDOWS Magazine and later for a variety of aviation magazines. I married Kathryn Bolton, MD in 1995 and moved to Modesto CA. got my pilots license and have been owner or part-owner of four airplanes over the years, which were used in part as transportation to clinics in Sinaloa, Mexico. Kate died two days after Christmas in 2015. I finally got my Bachelor's degree - based on the work I did at Wright State - from Excelsior college in 2004 and went on to get a Master of Science in Space Studies from U. North Dakota in 2010. That led to my current job as part-time archivist and editor for the Hubble Space Telescope operational history project at Foresight Science & Technology.
