I grew up in Compton CA and went to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Elementary School until age 11. Then went to Frank L. Walton Jr High School.
My mom moved us to Fresno CA where I went to Ivy Jr High School. There I was elected ASB president. I transferred to Irwin Jr High School. Then to Edison High where I was appointed high school newspaper editor. I met and married Roslyn Smith.
We moved to San Diego where I got an Administration of Justice degree and had a son, Jamaal. I found a career in law enforcement. I had two other children, Lijon and Johnnie from my next marriage. I divorced and retired ...Expand for more

I wrote an award winning gang/cops novel about how the infamous Bloods and Crips Street gangs began and called it, "First Blood by Johnny Russell."
