John's Story

Life Those of you who knew me then I hope you have good memories. Being 52 now I only have memories of certain things from high school. Since then I got married to Gloria Lewis. We were married for 31 years. We had one daughter we named Heidi Marie. She is married now and has given us a wonderful grandaughter named Grace Marie. They live in Mansfield and are planning to move soon. Gloria and I moved from the Belleville area to Lexington then to Columbus. Where we lived for around 16 years. We met alot of friends and began to race with SCCA. I ended up building and racing a VW Rabbit GTI. Which I ran for several years before crashing it in turn two at Mid Ohio. We moved to Mansfield then soon after that we had an auction and move to Sarasota, Florida. I got into karaoke and worked for International truck dealer for a couple years and then I had had enough of that industy. I had worked for Ditch Witch of Ohio for about 5 years and really thought that was were I was going to retire. But things changed and I found myself working for Southeastern, a Case dealer in Mansfield. Which was one more good reason to sell the house and move to Florida. I am now working again for Ditch Witch in Leesburg Florida and believe I will retire here. I have been sep...Expand for more
erated from Gloria for a little over a year now. She moved back to Columbus, Ohio with all of our racing friends. I am not as involved in racing as I was but am still a member of SCCA. I expect I will get back into it one day. Right now I am enjoying the people I meet and do theater with. I have played the lead in Mousetrap and 1940's Radio Hour in the local community theater The Melon Patch. I have also been in Gypsy, Arsenic and Old Lace, Cinderella (as the King), Music Man and most recently Godspell. Which just closed about two weeks ago. I help build the sets and have enjoyed that greatly. In Godspell, I built a lift for Jesus to go up on as the lights went dim and black light lit up the cross behind him. We had patrons going out of the theater just crying over the emotional effects the play had on them. The area here is filled with alot of church goin folks that just loved the play. I am currenly seeing a woman I met at the theater and who actually directed both Music Man and Godspell. Two of the most wonderfull productions ever done at this theater. Ok....off my soapbox. Outside of all that life is good...health is failing a bit but ...you'll have that at 52. Life is good but just like everyone else...a big lottery win sure wouldn't hurt!!
