John's Story
Life
I dropped out of high school at age 17 and went into the Navy. I spent 7 years in the Navy and completed three years of college. My last 4 years in the Navy was in London, England. I became a Los Angeles Policeman and spent my patrol time in Hollywood and then went undercover in the intelligence unit. I returned to Nashville in 1973 and completed my Baccalaureate degree at UT Nashville in 1975. I went to work at the Telephone Company in 1973. I completed my Masters in 1980 and moved to Atlanta with BellSouth in 1983. I retired from BellSouth in 1996 and completed my PhD in the same year. anaged until 2008. In 2003 I moved to Anniston AL where I live today. I was divorced in 2003 and am currently a happy single. In 2008 I was elected to the Anniston City Counsel and subsequently elect to the office of Vice Mayor. I currently teach in the Masters Program at Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville AL. I have also participated in the creation of our first doctoral program that will begin in the Fall of 2011.
UPDATE - About 6 months ago I developed and became the host of a weekly TV program called "The Rub." It addresses public issues with an edge. Never dreamed of getting involved in TV but find it quite fulfilling. If you are in NE Alabama at 7pm on a Thursday night please tune me in on CH-24.
