John's Story
Well it's a long and winding road since graduating from Lake Charles High School in 1975, but I will try to hit the high points. After graduation I made a couple of attempts at college but it didn't work out. I had several jobs from selling new cars to selling jewelry. My hobby turned into my work for about 6 years beginning in 1979. I later closed that paint and body shop and returned to school. This time I did much better. I graduated from LSU School of Allied Health at The LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA in 1992 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. I tried to stay in Louisiana to work, but just couldn't get the kind of job I wanted. Although I never really wanted to live in Houston I moved there in about 1997. I hated it at first but it has been good to me overall. I'm now a Certified Hand Therapist and work as a specialist treating hand and upper extremity injuries at a hospital about 15 minutes from my house. After several false starts of thinking I had met the girl I would marry I met Linda in 1978. We dated for quite a while and married in 1980. We had 3 children. My youngest one lives with me, works, and goes to college. Linda and I separated in 2005 and divorced in 2009 but have remained friendly. I love my kids very much. I have 2 dogs and a bird. I guess I am making up for not having a dog as a kid.
I bought a saxophone about 12 years ago to start playing again. I was starting to play pretty well when life became complicated. I am planning of resuming that hobby some day.
I graduated from Lake Charles High in 1975. I also attended St. Louis High School for a year and a half but really missed LCHS, so I went back there. You can see me on social media too. I had a few friends that went to Barbe and LaGrange, so I signed up for their schools too. I never went to either one of them but would still love to hear from them. You know who you are!
