John's Story
The best laid plans of mice and men, never seem to go quite as planned. So my oldest boy Jim who I thought was destined for college baseball heroics chose a different path, the path of an Army infantryman, only he decided he wanted Airborne Rangers.
Of course dad is both proud and worried sick all at the same time.
My other boy Joe just graduated high school in California and is staying behind getting my house there ready to sell. A lot of responsibility for a 17 year old but he is way more mature than his years, that's why I decided to move back to Dade County and leave him there to finish up some touch-up and work with the Realtors to get it on the market.
I'm living in my old homestead in Miami Springs. My mom, dad and aunt all passed away over the years leaving just me, my sister, her 3 daughters and my 2 sons. So I came home to our home...Expand for more
in the Springs to make sure that it doesn't fall into disrepair and is a lasting legacy for my sister and my kids.
I work from a home office in an apartment we have out back, I have my 6 computers and my 2 dogs to keep me company.
When my California house sells my son Joe is going to join me here in the Springs to continue his education, he's planning to be an airline pilot, and to live with the old man for a while longer as he completes his schooling.
If any of you are still in the area, look me up on Pinecrest Drive. I drive the black GMC pickup with the "Proud Army Dad" sticker on it.
I plan to get back into the water and start surfing again, going to buy a boat to cruise the Keys and Bahamas in, and just enjoy life back in the tropics again.
I hope all of your dreams come true.
Take care and God bless to all my friends and classmates.
