John's Story
I live in Herndon Virginia, a Washington DC suburb, with my wife of 25+ years and three children. I’ve worked more or less for the same company in the DC area since graduating college. Although my children have aged out, I continue to be involved in boy scouts. Some of my favorite family outings are going to Washington Capitals hockey games. I enjoy cooking and continue to use some of Ms Salayi’s recipes (with the mimeographs to prove it). passing through when I can. I had cancer in 2011 and 2013 and learned valuable lessons in faith, humility, and acceptance from that experience. Two of my most memorable teachers at NHHS are Mr Scasselati and Mt Lazorchak. Mr Scaz taught chemistry and was an inspiration in choosing a chemistry related career. Mr Laz was the ag teacher and inspired self-confidence when we took apart a lawnmower engine and put it back together, ready for next year’s class to do the same. They each taught me tricks and skills that I continue to use today.
