More about John:"The greatest accomplishment in my life is my kids. A daughter 28 and a son 24. My daughter graduated in the top sixth of her class and my son graduated in the top third of his class. I am divorced. I enjoy my freedom and am not planning on making the same mistake twice, anytime soon. I am a United States Army veteran and damn proud of my military career. It would be a mistake to take my compassion for people and animals as a weakness. I'm not as gullible as I was in school, you had better lied to God before you lie to me cause it won't be a pretty sight. I lived every day as if was my last on day on earth. I was born a sinner, will live as a sinner, and will die a sinner with the grace of God in my heart. I kind of got by in school. When I graduated high school, the next day I was on a plane for Anniston, Alabama for basic training and military police training. I had an extensive military career. I was working traffic control for the pope’s visit in 1979. I was there when the Cuban Refugee Program was if full force. I was on the Governor’s Military Security Team for the Governor’s Convention in 1982. I was a military police sniper and also served on an opposing forces team. On the opposition force, I had the most fun; it involved the infiltration of the enemy forces and take overs of critical operation sites and we chased the 12th Special Forces through the boonies for kicks. One of my most favorable memories, was when we took the over the Iowa Air N...Expand for more
ational Guard base in ten minutes. I was the first supply sergeant for the new maintenance school in the Iowa Army National Guard (the Regional Maintenance Training Site). I also on my time off, I train new recruits, the finer points of basic training and the true meaning of being a solider (I made Lou Gossett, Jr. in an Officer and a Gentleman look like a boy scout). My military career was one of my most satisfying achievements because like old blue eyes said “and I did it my way”. My second greatest accomplishment was graduating from Drake University (not bad for a dumb farm boy from the backwoods of southern Iowa). I was discharged from the military in 1989, where I went back to school to learn a trade and career. I graduated from AIB in 1992 with an Associate of Applied Business degree in Accounting/Financial Management/and Business Administration. I was their only triple major graduate that year. In 1994, I graduated from Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Management, with a minor in Human Resource Management. In 1997, I graduated from Drake University with a Masters of Public Administration degree with my emphasis being in Human Resource Management. I basically live one philosophy that is be firm, fair, and consistent. I am a free Mason. There are times I'm not a very nice person, so don't ask. I talk to doctors and lawyers in their language and sometimes I tell them to go take a hike and make them like it. I'm one of the few non CPA's to argue before the IRS and so far I'm up by 3 out of 3. I do know how to use and interpret the Code of Iowa. My philosophy is "you have to be two steps crookeder than the people you are dealing with. All of my CPA friends tell me "that I am the best of the best". If I hide something in the books, it will take someone years to find it, if at all. I have worked in various industries and served as a Correctional Officer (I was one Iowa finest finest). In 26 months, I seen more human bodies naked than most doctors see in their whole career. The inmates called me the "Cat" because I would standing there watching them before they knew I was even there. I don't raise my voice or waste my time making idol threats. You can bet if I tell someone that something is going to happen, you can bet that it will happen.".
