John's Story
Life
Retired from U.S. Army in 2001 after graduating from West Point and then serving 23 years active duty. Spent a career alternating between standard Army artillery unit related jobs and Latin America political / military affairs advisor assignments. Spent eight of those 23 years based / living in Panama and three in Chile assigned to the U.S. Embassy. Final assignment was in Texas where I handled military issues between the U.S. and Mexican Armies. Lots of fun filled work and travel in over a dozen Latin American countrie...Expand for more
s. Also enjoyed 4 years of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and helicopters, hoping to avoid rocks and trees on night landings. Met up with the love of my life after returning from an exchange assignment in Brazil, and we were later married at Fort Bragg. Also managed two great kids inbetween deployments. Just retired from the City of San Antonio, where I had been managing engineer teams that oversee the City's large scale construction projects. May eventually move to find a beach, or at least a water view someplace.
