John's Story
Life
Life has been good since SFA. I received my degree in Park Administration from TAMU after the mandatory one semester of grade rehabilitation at Allen. My degree specialty was zoo administration so the first 17 years after college were in the zoo business. (I know, the prediction in high school was that I would be director of the Vienna Boys Choir) I worked at just about everything in the zoo, including ten years as Curator of the Houston Zoo's Discovery Zoo. During this time you could also find me responding to emergencies as a firefighter EMT and Assistant Chief for a volunteer department in Fort Bend County. Since 1989 I have worked for the University of Texas at Houston,UTMB in Galveston and again at UT Houston in research management. (about working for TU - I have no pride when ...Expand for more
it comes to a paycheck!) For several years I worked for the local constable's office in my spare time. One of these days I'll figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I plan to retire for good on August 31, 2022 from UT Houston.
Jill and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary in February 2020. My wife is a Brit (I married an alien), and we have four terrific kids Yes we started late!
The latest addition to our family is Harry the cockatoo.
In addition to our pets, the dogs, cats, and birds, there are the occasional other creatures that may take up temporary residence at the house. No, we don't need any more!
Life at our house is anything but routine, but we have a lot of fun with our everyday adventures.
If you find yourself in the Missouri City area, look us up.
