John's Story
Yooooo. VHS. What a trip! We are so old now, while being kids in mind and spirit.
As I write to you, I have two wonderful children. One is 13 and the other is just turning 12. They hate me like young teens do, but hey! they can get over it when they are 30. I'm strict because I know what I was like as a kid. They couldn't possibly be bad compared to me, RIGHT? Oh hell. I'm doomed!
Anyway, I was married in 93 and got divorced (according to the courts and all) by 2001. Life accrues many mistakes and my ex was one of them. Mind you, I do not blame her. It took my conscent to marry the woman. As years have passed and my maturity has evolved, I decided I wanted a long term mate with no commitments. So, she and I share a place, share parental responsiblities, and basically live like husband and wife. Yet, there is nothing tieing us together besides the business we are buying, the house we bought, and the finances we share. LMFAO! Who needs marriage when you can have financial obligation!
I still live in Oceanside... now in the Parkside golf course area. We spend our weekends helping the girls become better softball players and better people.
Work has been an awesome ride. I can tell you this... Without having a college degree, I am surprised I have done so well for myself. As an admitted computer nerd in my early teens thru late 20's, I was in the right place at the right time. End result is that I've done what I've wanted most of the time and gotten paid for it. As a geek (ahem), in my 20's, I was the a-...Expand for more
hole tech support guy you probably called, while I got certified to support and teach everything under the sun. Since then, I've worked through the sales engineering ranks, done a bunch of serious high level program management, and am now in sales. Despite the econonic times, I flourish and love my career path. I know many of you have gone to Brown, BYU, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. but I didn't. Considering my options, I can say I did well. Most of my jobs included lots of travel and fewer with the daily grind.
My children are incredible, yet my sig. other and I decided to shack up and adopted two along the way. Yup, they are as much my daughters as my own. They call me Uncle Wiskas, since I occassionally grow a goatie, but they are the most wonderful little girls anyone could ask for, especially considering they are not my own.
For those of you looking to get in touch, I look forward to it. It would be nice to catch up with you again. I'm totally open to networking with those I knew, reconnecting, just saying hi, grabbing coffee or a beer, or getting together to just do whatever. My schedule is totally packed, but its always a comfort to see faces I went to school with. There will always be a place for you in my young adult memories (be they mischievous or benevolent).
BTW - This is not a service that I use to find dates, so please be kind. I'm a guy, but I'm also a Dad.
Best of luck to you in your life, no matter what it brings your way.
