John's Story

Life i enjoy life with all it's challenges and mysteries. i find it exciting and exhilarating to seek new knowledge, horizons and to venture into the unknown.already we are planning on how to ensure mankind will communicate more clearly and be better understood when they make their trip to mars and when they begin the colonization, mining, and exploring the moon in 2045. recent scientific evidence indicates that the moon does have water underneath it's surface.what is unclear at this time is how much water is locked below the surface of the moon.if it is in sufficient quantities then it may hold some real exciting possibilities about what we can do on the moon. the understanding of the communication and semantics of what the explorers, miners and colonizers are saying verbally versus what they really mean or are thinking but not saying is extremely important in order to clear up misunderstandings or when giving directions or watching out for potential dangers that explorers, miners or colonizers may be gettint into but not recognize.-- we are like alice in the looking glass peering into the universe and beholding all of it's wonders that we can see. and dream or fantasize about what the parts of the universe are like that we cannot see.on a planned trip to mars we had originally hoped and planned to send a mission to mars by 2010 and use a sling shot effect of having the space craft go around the sun and use that boost to increase the spacecraft's speed. if we had launched in 2010 the cost would only have been 40 billion dollars. however now we are not going to be able to make that date. so now we will launch in 2028 or possibly sooner a combined habitat and a stores resource mission to mars. this will proceed the manned mission to mars by approximately one to two years from the time the manned mission leaves the space station or moon to the time they return will take a total of three years.the six to eight person astronaut team will have to spend a minimum of 500 days on mars before they can begin their return mission back to the moon or space station. the cost for the combined mission is projected to be 440 billion dollars.there are many hurdles yet to over come such as muscle tone and bone density loss. we are currently making progress on some experimental means to subject the astronauts body to gravity.we are looking at several different options which would achieve this effect.this very necessary goal needs to be accomplished before the mission launch date. also with the above goals there are these additional goals of making sure the astronauts are receiving the proper nutrients and vitamins necessary to maintain the needs of their body chemistry. extremely important are the necessary protocols which need to be put in place to assist the astronauts in maintaining good morale and positive communication among the crew over the three years they will be gone.looking even further into the future when we send a expedition even further out into space exploration we currently plan to have between 68 to 98 persons aboard. half will be men and half will be women and there ages will between 21 to 36. current experiments show that this type of arrangement works best in having better communication, less stressors, better morale. the crew will have a more positve outlook along with a higher energy and accomplish a great deal more in their mission. School i went to lincoln elementary up to the eight grade.then went to yuba city high school grades 9 thru 10. transferred to dinuba high school and went to grades 11 and 12. then i went to the collge of sequoias grades 13 and 14 then on to fresno state where i graduated in 1961 with a major in political economics and a minor in physics and chemistry.then through the navy i was able to complete my master's degree in communication . many years later i got roped into starting my doctoral program.this was due to a training class i attended on how to better facilitate management meetings. the instructor worked for aerojet and had master degrees in communication and semantics. he is an old country boy and cowboy like me. after the class when we were talking and he found out my master's degree was in communication then he proceeded to tell me how he needed an old country cowboy to join him in getting our phd's specializing in communication and semantics.since he already had established contacts with a university campus by previously getting his two master's degrees from them it all worked out for both of us.also it did not hurt on my application that my father had his phd,had been a college professor, and his area of specialization was in multisensory and miniturization devices. some of these devices were placed in the redstone capsules and the mercury capsules.the rest of his research was utilized for military and space operations and almost all of it was classified. presently i now have four years and eight months left in my doctoral program with the goal of obtaining my phd in c...Expand for more
ommunication and semantics.it is both challenging and demanding but best of all it makes me stretch myself. it has definitely increased my wish to learn more and my desire for more information is almost insatiable. its almost like being in a candy store with tons of different types of candy from which to choose.i still expect to have my doctoral program completed within four years and eight months if not sooner. and that is providing the good lord is willing and the creek don't rise. my current area of research is dealing with how communication and semantics can be used to assist the astronauts on their mission to mars( 2028-2034)and the miners on the moon in the year 2045. also my current area of research will be working on how to assist mars explorers more clearly communicate what problems or needs they may face or incur on their trip to and from mars and more importantly during their 500 day stay on mars before they initiate their return trip to earth.. .the initial target date for the trip to mars was 2010 because we would have been able to utilize a slingshot effect from around the sun and the cost of the trip would be 40 billion dollars. we will not make that date so we will have to use the new major international space station which will built as a launch point and the trip would then cost us 440 billion dollars. along with this is a separate project to establish colony on the moon for the purpose of beginning to mine certain mineral resources on the moon.the actual processing of these minerals will be done on the moon because it will provide a higher quality finished product. the goal is to have that project done and mining started by the year 2045. College i went to the college of sequoias from 1957 thru 1959.my major was political economics with a minor in physics and chemistry.i was a member in the following: chess club, circle k,archaeology club, where i was the president of it. also i was a member of the interclub council.after graduating from c.o.s. with an a.a.degree i transferred to fresno state college. i attended fresno state from 1959 through 1961 and received my b.a. degree in 1961. Workplace i am enjoying the opportunity to craft new ways to assist in communication and semantics. .i have worked for sacramento county's dept. of human assistance since january 1984 through the present. my PhD research program focuses on communication and semantics the research is mostly applicable to the space program and military with certain components being applied to corporations who plan to be mining the moon along with future plans regarding the development of the potential resources that mars possesses. i find this new endeavor very exciting and challenging and i am enjoying working with other persons from different agencies,e.g. jpl, aerojet, nasa, and the navy regarding the development of different ways to send and receive information in a clearer and quicker format.i have now been put in charge of handling special projects that my department assigns.this entails cutting through a huge amount of gobblygook that is in the legislation and putting it into executive summary formats.in this arena i am contacting and/or working with different governmental bodies from county level up to the federal level.also i am required to do impact analysis as to how the legislation can effect the department cost wise.i thorougly enjoy these challenges because it make work more interesting and fun. Military in october 1962 i was stationed aboard a destroyer the uss wiltsie dd 716. we were out by the big island hawaii in asw manuevers with the submarine scorpion when we received radio traffic to get back to pearl harbor immediately. we knew things were serious when we pulled up to the ammunition dock and saw them loading nuclear along with other types of explosives aboard our ship.then we pulled up to the refueling dock where we received orders from the admiralty. we pulled out of pearl harbor and the next morning we were in a convoy headed south towards the panama canal.it was the beginning of the cuban missile crisis and our concerns were about our loved ones back home and the possibility of nuclear war and how it would effect them. we had no concerns about our lives. we only knew that if our nation went to war we were going to give the enemy holy hell and then some.FOOTNOTE:during our asw exercises with the scorpion one of our dummy torpedoes struck the submarine's conning tower when it was submerged and a little later in the day we almost fired a live nuclear depth charge at the scorpion but luckily due to fail safe mechanisms built into the firing procedure we were able to prevent the firing of it.almost all of the sailors aboard our ship felt that the scorpion was a jinxed ship and that something bad was going to happen to it.sure enough the following year the scorpion was patrolling in the atlantic off our coastline when it collided with a russian submarine and both submarines sank with a loss of all hands.
