John's Story
Life
I was in the Navy from 65-69 stationed on a destroyer. Went on two WestPac cruises to Vietnam and other fine ports of call in the far east. I married my wife Cathy in 1969 and she still puts up with me to this very day which is amazing. We have lived in Riverside Ca. since 1969. Our Daughter Renee was born in 1969. So 69 was a very busy year for me. Our daughter has 5 children which keeps her, granny and grampy busy spoiling them, but thats what we are put here for. The oldest granddaugther is 17yrs old now, and the two youngest granddaughters are 11 and 7yrs old. Our two grandsons are 12 and 6yrs old. The youngest boy was born on the side of the road in a Toyota between Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead at 5:35 AM on Christmas Eve 2000 with the other 4 grandkides sitting in the backseat watching the wh...Expand for more
ole show. I guess he couldnt wait for Christmas. Makes me wonder where the time went with all of these grandkides around. Im retired from Ironworkers Local 433 in LA. after a little fall on the job in 2004, which was not the way I had planed on hanging it up, but thats the breaks. Outside of the body pains from 35yrs of working as a Structural Ironworker with a few injuries here and there, life is great now being retired and doing what I like when I like. Playing golf 2 or 3 times a week and going Elk hunting in Colorado is what I like doing the most. My wife and I try to come to Tucson a few times a year to visit my mom, sister and any old buddies that are still around. If you are reading this Im glad, because that means you are on the right side of the grass, and I hope you stay there for many more years.
