John's Story
After high school, I entered the USAF (and was stationed abroad in Europe where I was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service during the Cold War). Afterwards, I pursued a successful career in international business as a Systems Analyst in the Netherlands and Canada and then became a civil servant at the United Nations at their offices in Montreal, Canada and Geneva, Switzerland where I had a senior director's position responsible for co-ordination of UN computer systems world-wide.
I have lived abroad almost my whole adult life except for a few years while working in business in the USA, residing mostly in francophone countries (my high school French teacher, Miss Aduddell would have been proud of me). Until recently I owned my own consulting firm, having retired from the UN in 2002, but have now retired completely from working to concentrate on my stock market investments. I have started writing my autobiography, having had experience writing a number of articles for various journals and newspapers primarily based on my travel experiences.

ve lived in the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Switzerland. My official travels for the United Nations have taken me to every continent except Australia. Most of my travel time these days is spent aboard cruise ships on the ocean. However, my favorite vacation spot is Lago Maggiore in Switzerland and Italy which I have visited numerous times both with my wife and with my brother and sister and their spouses.
Winters I spend in Palm Beach, Florida or Corpus Christi, Texas.
I was active in the Obama/Biden campaign of 2008 and generally support liberal politics but follow also conservative arguments so as to obtain both points-of-view.
I serve now on the Executive Board of the Canadian Association of Former International Civil Servants (CAFICS) and am also a Life Member of the Association of Former International Civil Servants (AFICS) in New York and in Geneva, Switzerland.
I graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) with a BA in International Public Administration where I studied abroad at a SUNY program in Brussels, Belgium.
