John's Story

Life Wow, the bio of John M. Williams.....well, high school was a challange to put it lightly. Going from the "bookworm" extreme to that of a "stoner thug" was quite the transition. While I adapted well to that "life" I was still a nerd/bookworm at heart and did what it took to leave the area and pursue a lifestyle change. In 1982 I joined the US Army as a "high speed low drag" grunt and eventually became a DI teaching basic training and ROTC around the country. Been to most free countries, and a few not so free. Been to Rome and Dallas Texas "man I been around the world" nod to Sammy and a lot of places in between, but always found myself longing for the Northwest. After 6 years, went to college and picked up 2 AAS degrees, one in German, one in Business. Went to work in Accounting, which after a year the thrill was over, and then found my calling in Sales & Marketing. Today Im successfully self employed in the family business and absolutely love what I do for a living. Did really well with a Malaysian Manfuacturing Company and then I went to work for my fathers "prototype" precision sheetmetal shop. Im really blessed in that I love what I do for a living. Today we are down from 50 to 30 employees and I handle the finance and business side. I have a great team of professionals that pretty much run day to day ops and run the opeation. They tell me things just run smoother if I just stay in my office....huh. Who da thunk? We have managed to fair pretty well through this last recession and things are looking pretty good for the years ahead. As far as relationships, man....what to say. Im always looking out for the next Ms. Right , but I would have to say that for the last 16 years I have been "married" to my business as well as a single parent raising my son. I have had a lot of help in that area, but for the most part, the last 15-19 years of my life have been about raising my son and building a business, and so its been a real challenge. How do you say, lucky in life, but unlucky in love. Met my first ex in Dallas Texas, just like the song, and we had a beautiful ...Expand for more
son that I have been raising since he was about 4. I live out here in Marysville and commute every day to South Park Seattle....UGGH!! I moved out here to get away from South Seattle and next fall he should be headed to WSU. Living in Marysville has to be one of the strangest living experiences I have ever encountered. Its like a cross between the Jetsons and the Clampets. Although as of late, I think due to my age I am seeing the advantages of "country" living. Had another long term relationship for about 5 years, but just didn't work out. I have been single "off and on" since 2001, and again last March in 2009. I seem to be attracted to the "trophy" or "bad girl" I think so what can I say...my libido hasnt really changed much over the years. For fun I like to hike w/my dogs, snowboard and go trapshooting. Long range tactical target shooting as well. During the winter time I snowboard a little and during the summer I do a lot of Salmon fishing, either locally or over in Port Townsend w/dad. Out of respect for my father I occasionally go deer or elk hunting , but its just too damn cold and early in the morning for me and I really dont like it. Again, I did 6 years in the Army..thank you I have had my share of "camping" and "hunting". I have a two dogs, a female Pitbull named Styx who is just the sweetest and a Boxer that my son named after his dad, his name is "Rowdy" he is a flashy brindle "tiger striped" boxer about 80 # and he is just the coolest dog. What else, still single. Still looking for Ms. Right and the quest seems to continue. I saw a movie called the "notebook" a few yers back , and it sums up how I felt about a girl I met at Tyee after I was given the boot from Foster in my Senior year. Still a romantic I guess... Well, that pretty much sums it up....Im still rather arrogant, know what I like and want, and take great steps to accomplish my goals. In the famous words of Joe Walsh...."lifes been good to me so far"... For those of you that stopped by, thank you for being a part of my journey, a part of my life...... Cheers John M. Williams
