John's Story
Hello all!
After DHHS I spent several dismal years wandering the halls of education but managed to enjoy the party and frat live a little too much and decided, along with a consult with my dad, to quit wasting his money and go to work till i figured it out. After I got a job in the construction business but before I figured "it" out, I met a young co-ed at UGA, Kathy Jones. Next thing I know we were married and she figured it out for me! Sell more, make more money and let's move to Florida. We have been together for 43 years now and she keeps figuring it out for me and all is well here in Tampa (well except for the Bucs!)

w am in commercial real estate. However I am hoping my real passion will carry us through retirement, wood working and specifically woodturning. We created a website and are getting into art shows and have been invited to attend a major show here as an "Emerging Artist". Yeah, it sets me back every time I say it too! But I am enjoying it and starting to make some income.
For those of you who remember Jimmy Carnes, our great track coach, if you do not know he has passed on. He and I had stayed in touch as my travels took me through Gainesville Florida regularly. He put a track reunion together a few years ago at DHHS about 5 years ago and it was well attended. Unfortunately that same month of the reunion, he and I were both diagnosed with prostate cancer. While I am now clear, Coach had a previous mis-diagnosis and after a 2 and a half year battle, it got him. We were very close at that time and I know all who knew him at DHHS had great respect for him and I thought you would be interested. He was a great man.
