Johnnie's Story
I am now Johnnie Burns Niemann retired and living in Wisconsin. Went to Handley Elementary (1-2), R. Vickery Elementary (3-6), Williams James Junior High (7-9), Polytechnic High School (10-12), then I graduated from North Texas State University in 1969 where I studied math and business. Worked for several companies including Marie Leavell, Steak and Ale, Lone Star Gas, Enserch Exploration, then ending with TXU Entergy in Dallas, Texas. Married then divorced, then finally married Bill Niemann in 1978 and had a daughter in August 1980, the hottest summer I can ever remember. She is all grown up now and has two boys, What a handful! In 2003 Bill and I retired and moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, a gated retirement community. Hoping for some relief from the heat in Texas. It was so nice there! We had a big card club in the Village and I learned to play bridge beginning in 2005 and I am not sure that I will ever feel competent at it. Several years ago I became an ACBL LifeMaster. ms on my husband's bucket list. In 2011 we took the Rocky Mountaineer across Canada where we were treated like royalty and the food was magnificent. In 2012, we took an Alaskan cruise. Then in 2013, we took a 28 day cruise to Hawaii and the South Pacific. We saw some of the most beautiful places on earth! My husband planned a fishing trip in Alaska, so in 2014 I went with my daughter and her family to Costa Rica. We hiked through the rainforest, saw the Arenal Volcano, and spent the last couple of days at the beach. There were soooo many beautiful flowers and some really interesting creatures there. Haven't done much traveling since. I did thoroughly enjoy retirement! Then in Sept., 2020 we moved to a multigenerational home with our daughter and her family. It's not the same. We miss our view of the hills of Arkansas. But, Bill and I needed help. I could not take care of him and that big house! So here we are in the frozen tundra! Hoping to make it through the winter. lol We love being closer to family and especially the grandkids!
