John's Story
Got married to Terri while in grad school in 1988. After grad school, we moved to California so I could start my career in movies/television. I worked in various production jobs for 13 years, and have been a professional writer for the past 14, with various screenplay and other credits. I spent 3 1/2 years on staff with Hope for Orphans, which is a ministry of FamilyLife, mainly writing content about adoption, foster care and orphan care. I speak at adoption conferences across the country and I continue to do some freelance writing ...Expand for more
on the side, including recent projects for the One Campaign, Cry of the Orphan Campaign, Flannel, and Focus on the Family. Terri and I have adopted six children from the Los Angeles County Foster system -- 4 girls (ages 20, 12, 5, and 2) and 2 boys (ages 17 and 16). We've had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the USA, Europe, China and Uganda. We are members of Grace Brethren Church in Long Beach, where I serve as an elder. I am currently about to launch a non-profit aimed at helping more children find forever families.
