Jolie's Story
Life
Time sure flies by, doesn't it? I can't believe it's been 28 years since high school. We can't be that old now, can we? Now that my kids are adults, I'm enjoying seeing them begin their own lives, and remembering myself at their ages. What I wouldn't do to go back and know what I know now and do it all again. Age certainly does bring wisdom.
I have two kids, Amber still lives in Grand Junction and is 26 years old, married and she works for Shaw Construction. My son Keaton is 19, and is a team leader for Lowes. He and I live in Aurora, where I'm a second grade teacher for Cherry Creek Schools. I love my job, and my students teach me something new everyday. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in banking for a while, and was a flight attendant for a while. I went back to college when I was in my early 30s, and I loved it! It ignited my love for learning and now I take classes of some sort pretty much all the time. In fact, in January 2008 I'm heading back to school for my second masters degree. dits will give me a nice raise either way. Counseling was my original intent when I first started back to college, and has always been a strong interest of mine. It will be nice talking to older kids too who might get my jokes. Second graders just don't!
I got my BA at Mesa State in counseling psychology and teacher's certification, and my Masters at Univ. of Phoenix in education. I'm pretty involved politically, and am a volunteer lobbyist for CEA (Colorado Education Assn.). I'm a technology coach at my school, where I teach other teachers ways to incorporate technology into their lessons. I'm also a mentor teacher for a student teacher, a facilitator for support groups for kids at my school experiencing divorce or other losses, as well as a facilitator for a problem solving group for teachers. There's never a dull moment, and I really enjoy helping other teachers and kids who need a hand.
I have 3 ex-husbands, and no desire for a 4th. My dog Max and my bunny rabbit Blossom keep me plenty entertained. I love where I am in my life and wouldn't change a thing. I'd like to reconnect with some of the people who made my youth memorable. Drop me an email and say "hi!"
