Jon's Story
Life is what happens when you’re making other plans. Life is good.
I’ve been sort of what some call a “multi-potentialite” …always pursuing the adventure of the unknown and following my heart. Fortunately for me, the girl that said “yes” to being my life companion has been cool with that and we are still hanging out.
As crazy as it is, the adventures included a lot of privilege and good fortune (luck). My formal studies after graduation from WMHS have included Music (trumpet/piano), Chemistry, Cross Cultural Studies/Spanish, Seminary, Aviation (Aircraft Maintenance Technician/Flight training-Commercial Pilot, Hazardous Materials Specialist), Amateur Radio (KA5UZY/YV5), and Medical School.
There were the obligatory (ha!) stints in Network Marketing (very grateful for the personal growth that came through those experiences), and of course, my education continues informally daily in research and hands on experience across a broad spectrum.
I have come to realize that life is not what we accomplish, though that is good. My life has become more in line with how I want to be remembered. Do I really have the heart to serve others, or am I still making...Expand for more
everything all about me? I hope the former.
Coupled with a sense for adventure, my heart to help others, on whatever level, took me down an interesting path through life.

My faith and my family have been the constants. What a sweet adventure it was to bring four children to life and get to raise them as we saw fit. That was a journey that lasted from 1983 to 2013 when the last one went off to college. They have given us 8 grandkids. And that’s another adventure!!!
So we have ended up in Abilene Texas to help family start and expand their business (that help is not needed anymore but getting to share in their success has meant a lot).
Our neighborhood is just what we want… lots of children playing, and visiting grandchildren. Homes were built from the 60’s to the 80’s so quite non-descript. I have been making our place new again room by room and love creating special beauty in a small space with my own hands.
Life is good. So much to learn. The next 20 years will be grand.
