Jonathan's Story
"Cigarettes and classmates."
Perhaps I quit smoking too late.
Puff I went.
Breathe in and watch the guy at the hospital as he is watching himself being operated on.
Six months later and he's dead.
Blame Gary & THE Buttcoppers.
THEY SMOKE smoked coke.
Which is blowing smoke into a cup of coke and watching the smoke come out of the coke.
I never did start The klezmer show in New Rochelle or the Rocking Chair Store in Larchmont.
But like my Grampa Barney I started something up.
Either selling fedoras or opening a furniture store.
I grow cactus outside my window.
Watch the television waiting for my favorite movie-
Joe vs. The Volcano.
Tom Hanks stars in it and the leading lady Meg Ryan plays 3 of his romances.
Including the most serious one.

I met her years later in an assisted living home.
Don't want to be a martyr, like Joe was.
Many people idolize martyrs.
But I'm not one of them.

Hollywood and certain people wish they were true martyrs.
But I'm not one of them.
If they want everyone locked up why doesn't he lock himself up?
Certainly there's enough heroin - percadin in the jails to hook a tired horse.
Don't know how to spell two.
Mom and Pop stores go out of business.
That's not what Bernie was for.
Neither was World War II's hero, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Bernie could have saved the Butt coppers for sure.

I had a barber who's name was Cosimo.
He became a Mary-knoll Priest and is friends with Mario.
Mario married a Jewish woman.
He converted to Judaism.
His daughter and son are Jewish too.
