Jonathan's Story
Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. I was happy working at Home Savings of America for 5 years when the earthquake hit Santa Cruz in 1989. I was locking up the safety deposit box that night when the "big" one hit.
Being claustrophobic, I could not imagine myself locked up in that tiny vault for an extended amount of time.

Since the County offered an improved benefits package as well as an employer contribution IRA program, I shifted my work career from the private sector to the public one. Now I have been working at the Assessor's Office for over 20 years, (my anniversary date was March 1, 1990) I have been living in Santa Cruz although I still call Palo Alto my real home.
