Jonathan's Story
I, like many I am sure, do not know how to start...so here it goes. I went into the Air Force in October of 1980. Left active duty military service in 1984, and became a civil servant working for the Air Force at McClellan AFB, Sacramento, CA. I left in August of 2000 because of the base closing due to BRAC, and went to Washington D.C. to work on the Air Staff at the Pentagon. I was in the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001, which changed my life forever. During that same timeframe the D.C. Sniper was at large in the areas surrounding where I lived. They were captured a week after I left for Ohio. To say I now appreciate life to a much higher degree is an understatement. er in Ohio (lack of positions in her profession due to outsourcing) I moved back to the D.C. metro area (N. Virginia). I now work for the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Belvoir.
I have two beautiful children from my first marriage. My son, Joshua is 29 years old and my daughter Melissa is 25. In August of 2007 my daughter gave me my first grandchild, a boy, Thomas Ellis Stirgus IV. My son then gave me my first granddaughter, Bella Estella (beautiful star in Spanish) Mathews, in April of 2008. My daughter then gave me my third grandchild, another boy, (Jonathan Isiah Stirgus), August 2008. Joshua still lives in Sacramento; Melissa and the boys have relocated to N. Virginia.
I look forward to reuniting with old friends and colleagues from days past. If you read this, I hope it finds you happy, safe and blessed.
