Jonathon's Story
Life
Hi there!! Thanks for still showing intrest in me! It's seems like forever...
My kids, Amanda and Shawn, are growing up fast...and I'm STILL 18! Some things never change.
My life has always been an adventure. Check it out...
I moved to Hollywood, CA in '89 to find that the rock scene was defunct even though I had label interest with A & M records as a solo artist, but things didn't pan out as the label was going under. I also had an opprotunity to be cast on the soap opera "Santa Barbara" as a "gang member" (OOOH, spooky, huh?) I decided after 4 months of sleeping on pillows for a bed in a small room with 5 other roommates and barely eating, that it's time to skip town and head for home.
Since then, I've released 3 albums, and soon to be working on a 4th. Can you say solo album? I am currently the bassist/vocalist in ShakyJake(.com) Some of my past projects include: "1000 Pleasures" (1993) - This album was nomminated "Hard Rock Recording Of The Year" for the MN Music Awards. It went to #2 on the CMJ charts in the summer of '94 - just under Green Day, for most requested songs. "Rainmaker - Walk On Water" (1996). This album was recorded in Cannon Falls, MN at the same studio where Nirvana, Soul Asylum & Live recorded there platinum albums (We thought it would rub off on us...yeah, right!). The album was released independently worldwide and did ok - no Grammy Awards yet. I wrote and arranged about 90% of the music. We toured a lot and had some airplay but the $$ weren't there. In 2001, I reunited with the former guitarist from Rainmaker to record a...Expand for more
n album which we threw online to see what would happen. The songs did really well as we received worldwide press and had the top 10 spots filled all summer long as the songs, which are in the commercial rock vein of Journey and Bon Jovi, became quite popular to download. No autographs, please.
The downside of my life took place on May 10th, 2005 when my dad died of a stroke. I was with him at the time when his health was rapidly declining and I tried to help by offering to take him to the hospital. I think he wanted to pass at home. I had never heard the words "I love you" out of him more than 3 times in my life. Those were the last words he ever spoke. The next day he was found at his house in Andover, by a Sherriff that was called to check on him. He was in a coma for a week before I had to remove him from life support. We spread his ashes along the Rum River, where he loved to fish and hang out and drink his cheap beer. He said he learned to like that kind of beer in Germany when he was drafted as a young man. Legend has it, he sat next to a young man named Elvis and had coffee with him before "the King" was a star. That must explain why a dog we had while I was growing up was named KING. Interesting! He has a memorial marker at Fort Snelling. R.I.P. Dad. I love you, too.
Hopefully you are still awake after all that. Sorry. So much to tell and share so little space. If you would like, keep in touch for more information...
