Milton's Story
When the Class of '64 graduated, I had already volunteered and joined the U. S. Marine Corps. I was then finishing "Boot Camp" at Parris Island, SC. Although I hadn't yet understood it, the Lord had led me specifically to the Marine Corps. Thank God! Otherwise, 'the Street" would have secured its hold on me and my story would surely have been very different and significantly abbreviated by jail or worse.
I left Laney for college with the Class of '63. Early into my second semester, I dropped out of college before my high school class had graduated, so I had no Yearbook picture. I spent the next 4 years in the Marines, including Viet Nam.
In late 1966, our classmate, John Ivey and I ended up on the same troop ship on our way to Viet Nam, neither having known that the other was also in the Marine Corps. We just bumped into each other one day as we walked on deck. How about that? :-) After a month or so aboard ship, we never saw each other again until Atlanta, about 2 years later after we both had gotten out. I thank the Lord that we both made it back, knowing that so many others didn't.
What am I doing now?
Retired business professional and trainer whose career spanned all phases of the information technology and training businesses at IBM Corporation and other technology firms. Currently serving on the Board of Directors at GreyStone Power Corporation.

- Serving on the Board of Directors of GreyStone Power Corporation, an Electric Membership Cooperative (EMC) providing electric power services to the west suburbs of Atlanta, GA. Formerly served as Chairman of the Board and now serving in my 18th year.
- Served as a Mentor in Veterans Court (Superior Court, Fulton County, GA). VETS Court Mentors volunteer to encourage, guide, and support veterans as they progress through the court process. These are veterans with felony convictions who have been given the opportunity to redeem their sentences by completing this rigorous "accountability" program under court supervision.
- Last full-time employment was 8 years as Instructional Systems Designer at Greenway Health, a leading provider of Health Care Information Technology solutions and services, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) for ambulatory medical practices.
- Retired from IBM Corporation in 2001 as a Senior Project Manager after 33 years in all phases of Information Technology and Training.
- Former Part-time Instructor of Management (9 years), Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University (GSU), having earned my MBA in 1992 in GSU's Executive MBA Program.
- Free-lanced as a Cross-Industry Independent Training Contractor (post-IBM and pre-Greenway).
- Among many other free-lance engagements, conducted training on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in Military Healthcare Facilities as a member of implementation teams serving about 15 - 16 different military installations of all services.
