Joanne's Story
Life
Ok, here it goes......I am married to Jake, he went to Holy Cross High School. Between us we have 3 kids, Arte, Jocelyn, Ashley, 3 grand-daughters and 3 grandsons.
Our oldest son passed away in 2001, my daughter is an RN and married. Our youngest daughter was in the Air Force, but now is an Air Traffic Controller. She lives in Arizona and is also married. How I wish they lived closer to us.
My grandchildren are my life. The girls are amazing and like their mother, smart and beautiful. Our oldest granddaughter Alex is 17, next is our BB, who's 10 and our baby girl Ari is 5. Our oldest grandson RJ is 7 and the baby Jake is 4, beautiful, handsome boys, just like their mom & grandpa! Wow, that's 6 of the cutest kids ever!
We still live in San Antonio, are close to friends from school and are very blessed with our family.
School
I attended Holy Rosary, Providence High and graduated from Jefferson in 74. I hated most except for Jeff. Needless to say my early high school life was fairly miserable, until I went to Jeff. So glad to be out of all that drama! I'm still in contact with friends I made at Jeff and Providence. I still see and talk to others I went to school with at Holy Rosary.
Workplace
I was in IT for a major hospital system and...Expand for more
before that the City of SA. I'm medically retired now but am glad to be at home and have extra time to spend with my husband and grandchildren.
Hero's
Well actually I have quite a few. My son Arte for his strength to make it through so many hardships, his willingness to give the shirt off his back to the poor and homeless. He was a gentle soul who's time on this earth was cut way to short.
My grandson, Brice Jacob never made it to be with us and I know one day I will meet my precious baby.
My brother Jon for his positivity, generousity and amazing spirit. He was the most amazing father to his son Jon. He is also with my son in God's glory, another one who left us way to soon.
Then last but not least, my husband, who has given me support through all the hardships I've had to endure, took on the responsibility of fatherhood for my kids, when their own father had nothing to do with them, and is the most dedicated and wonderful father and grandfather in the world.
I was asked if I had to do it all over again, what would I do......I would have had my kids and not married my first husband, their father. Crazy to stay a single parent at that time? Perhaps, but it would have saved my life and that of my children....and that's all I have to say about that!
