Jorge's Story
Jorge is married. His schools include James Garfield High School. He later attended California State University, Los Angeles.
Life Graduate Garfield HS in '67. Started attending ELAC, to pursue an Architectural degree. After completing an AA Degree took a little time off, and that's when I was told that my deferment was not granted anymore, and that I have to joint any service branch, so I enlisted in the Army in 1971 for 3 years. Attended Basic training at Fort Ord, CA, later I was sent to attend Electronic school in Fort Gordon GA, and spend the extra year in school. Was very lucky that I was not sent to Vietnam, instead I was send to West Germany, where I spend the rest of my time of service. EL Segundo CA. Also I started attending CSULA, on a part time basis to pursue an Electronic Engineering Degree. After 4.5 years I found a new job closer to home at Burroughs Corp, in El Monte CA, as a Field Engineer. Moved up to become a Systems Integration Engineer, in Pasadena CA. Later all the projects were moved to the main plant in Mission Viejo CA and the Pasadena plant closed. Since Burroughs and Sperry merged and they became Unisys Corp. There at Unisys, I lasted almost 29 years as a Hardware Engineer till the Corporation de solved the Hardware Engineer group and they layoff everyone in the Hardware Group in 2008. Continue working as Contractor as a Storage and Network Administrator for various companies and now I am working as a SSD DVT Test Engineer (Solid State Drives) at STEC Inc. In Orange County.
