Military I enlisted in the US Army in Aug of 1980, I went to Basic Training in Ft Dix New Jersey D/43. After graduating from Basic training I departed Ft Dix New Jersey heading to FT Belvoir Virginia for my advance training, where I seen snow for the first time of my life. I enjoyed Ft Belvoir in was a nice post. After graduating from my advance training course I headed back to Florida where I did hometown recruiting, I basically helped the recruiters in Ft Pierce enlist some people into the Army. In Mar of 1981 I reported to my first duty station at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah Ga.I was with the 132nd Aviation co, loved it there. In Feb of 82 I headed to Germany where I got stationed in Nurnberg,I was with the 123rd Maintenance Batallion, got a chance to enjoy Germany do a little traveling, met a lot of great people and got to see the military from a different point of view. Left Germany in Nov of 83 headed back to the states, back to Georgia where I got stationed with the 724th Maintenance Bn at Ft Stewart, stayed there until 1985 when I got picked up for a special assignment to Ogden Utah, one of the best assignment I ever had in my 23 years of service, started out as CCSC and finished as 1119th Sig BN, met some great people, made some good friends and met my beautiful wife Debbie. The assignment was great got a chance to stay in one place for a few years and work with some of the best soldiers ever. In 1993 the unit was starting to go away so I headed to Korea, got station at Camp Casey with the 2nd FSB, Korea was a great experience I enjoyed it got a chance to spend time with my brother which was also stationed there. Left Korea in 94 got stationed back at Ft Stewart Ga with the 224th FSB then it got changed to the 26th FSB due to Division changes.Got to enjoy Ga again this time with the family, again met a lot of great people and friends. Again the Army thought it was time for me to move again so they sent me and the family back to Germany, this time working for NATO. My Headquarters was in the Netherlands but I worked out of Baumholder Germany. Again another great assignment got a chance to work with a multinational group of soldiers. I enjoyed the unit AFCENT made some friends for ever, the family enjoyed the stay, they got to travel and enjoy some of the great shopping in Europe. We traveled throughout Germany and some of the surrounding countries we really enjoyed it.My position went away so I found a job with the 47th FSB out of Baumholder I had some great soldiers a lot of hard workers. Got a chance to deploy to KOSOVO for a peace keeping mission enjoyed the six month rotation did my time then it was time to head back to the states. After my tour in Germany I headed back to t...Expand for more
he states to the great New York State where I got assigned to HHT 3/17 Cavalry. Again got a chance to work with great leaders and great soldiers we had a blast. Every good thing must come to an end, I talked over with the family and we decided that after 23 years of service it was time to retire from the Army and settle down. Our kids were getting at the age where they wanted to stay in one place and have long lasting friends, a place where they did not have to move every three years, so we made the decision and 23 years later I retired from the Army. My last assignment the 3/17 Cav will always be a big part of me, really enjoyed it and the friends I made were incredible. We decided to go back to Utah, Debbie left New York a year ahead of me came to Utah and built us a house and that is where I'm at right now. To all my comrades, all my friends throughout my military career you all have a place to come and visit, so if you all are ever in the neighborhood please stop by. I did retire as a Master Sergeant. After New York I got a job with the Great Company Costco, worked for them for 8 months I left and started working for the United States Post Office looking for the next career, so for all my friends please keep in touch.update, I left the post office after about a year it was a little too much, long hours 6 days a week and I retired so I could spend a little time at home with the family, worked with some great people now I know why they go postal lol, The pay was good lots of overtime but like I said family first, so I was unemployed for a couple of months got a call from Costco wanting to know if I would like to come back and work for them so I did I've been with them since. I started out merchandising, I got a supervisor job for a couple of years, was in charge of produce area loved it, then they moved the Sup around to other areas was front end supervisor for a while, decided to step down don't like the idea of working crazy schedules, mornings , mid days and evenings, so I went back to being a merch, love my mornings go in at 5 AM out by 1:40 Pm so that is where I am these days, really enjoy Costco a great company to work for, the company is great but management can be a pain sometime, just like anywhere else. Just like the Army it's a great place but sometime the leadership can make it really bad. I would like to extend an invitation to all my friends if you are ever in the area please stop by and visit you are always welcomed.God Bless you all. By the way I am a grandpa to a beautiful little girl named Kimbrie she's six yers old and she's our life. My son also got married , been married for two years now and my daugher is looking at getting married soon. Deb and I are empty nesters they both have their own places, they don't live to far so we get to see them often. we have a total of four grand babies now, Kimbrie is now 13 Oliver is 6 Kylar Ray is 5 and Erikson Jay will be 3 love them all so much. And as for my wife she's still running her Day care after 18years, it's been a little crazy with this virus thing so hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
