try unit, but ended up with the Combat Engineers. In some ways it was better, but the assignment was just as deadly. Never received a scratch. Grace of God and the prayers of my Grandmothers. Putting the tragedy of it aside, the people and country were fascinating. 18th Engineer Brigade, 19th Battalion (Combat), D Company, 1st Platoon, 1st Squad. Dec '68 to Feb '70.
