After getting kicked out of St. George High School in Evanston (for drugs, haha, I was a "troubled youth") I attended Sullivan for junior and senior year and barely graduated. (Haha, I was still troubled). After graduation, I replaced the glasses with contacts, hitchhiked to the west coast, explored it and gained a lot of much needed confidence. Returned that September to start at Northeastern in Chicago. Suddenly started getting A's. And then straight A's. I began dating Brenda Shore, one of the hottest women at Northeastern, who'd been our Sullivan class vice president. (Anyone know where she is these days? Please tell me how to get a hold of her or let her know I'm on here!) Did some more hitchhiking the next summer and discovered the SF Bay Area and Berkeley. In 1969 it was one of the most exciting places anywhere and I determined I was going to go there. Transferred to U.C. Berkeley in junior year. Got accepted to law school at U.C. Hastings in SF but delayed starting for a year of work and travel with a girlfriend in Europe. Returned from Europe by sailing a 63 ft. sailboat across the Atlantic along with 3 other people.
