Sandra's Story
Life
I live in Ohio and have been here 1972. I have 3 children; 2 girls and 1 boy. My youngest, Cheryl passed away 13 years ago at the age 16.She had been fighting Leukemia for 3 years. Joe, is the middle and he has choosen the military for his career. He went in right out of High School and has earned several high honers in the Army. At the present he is also attending college full time. Tracia, my oldest has given me 3 wonderful Grandchildre. Ronnie who is 15, Erica who is 12, and Jason who is 7. Right now I work for the Federal Government and I guess I am one of the few who really like their job. Would love to hear from any of my class mates.
Fast forward to 2020. What a year!!!! But I need to go back 2016 where everything started. I retired in January of 2016. Had plans to do some traveling and maybe take a short cruise. But someone higher up had other plans for me.
September of 2016, I got my 2 Great Grandkids. Keshia who was 5 at the time and just starting kindergarten and Carter who was 3. It took me until February of 2017 to get legal custody of them. Talk about turning your life upside down. M...Expand for more
y son, Joseph ( he retired with 31 years of service in the Army in August 2016) has helped a lot . My daughter Tracia has helped when she could.
I had raised my kids and thought this should be a breeze. Boy was I wrong. Keshia was used to staying with me, but Carter was not. After 1 1/2 years I got him in counseling and I took a parent class to learn how to deal with him. He was diagnosed with ADHD and Trauma. Started him on meds last year and he is doing so much better. We still have a long way to go with him.
Keshia is Keshia. I call her my Little Diva. She is 9 now and thinks she 13. Her Uncles have already told her that all boys must pass inspection. Both are retired military. They will be keeping an eye on her. She loves to dance and sing.
Now I love them dearly and I was hoping they would be in school this year, but NO. I learned last year that I am not a Teacher when they closed the schools and did long distance learning. Hopefully this will only last the 1st quarter.
If anyone wants to get in touch with me I am on FB under Sandra Lea Trail-Fridley. Would love to hear from any of my class mates.
