Joseph's Story
Life
I am now a proud father of 2 beautiful little girls, Brianna born in Nov of 2003 and Addison born in April of 2005, as well as husband to the love of my life Darla. I traveled nearly around the the entire world, only to find another Colorado native waiting for me in Glendo, WY! We are currently settled (sort of) in Northern California, but Colorado is still home.
College
I actually graduted with the degree in Electrical Engineering that I started out to get at the University of Colorado, Boulder. It took me 9 semesters along with my Navy ROTC requirements. And during 1 maybe 2 of those semesters I actaully remeber enjoying something that resembled a life other than studying. My exciting senior spring break was spent in the design lab trying to make a project work.
Workplace
After leaving the Navy I went to work as a manager at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Fort Collins. I started in the Brewhouse making and tasting beer, but discovered that I have lousy taste buds. So after two years I moved over to the packaging side putting beer in packages and a year later they promoted me to an Area Manager (Manager of managers) and moved me to Fairfield, CA. Over the next nine months I nearly worked myself to death trying to controll all the details of all beer bottled or canned in this brewery. Finally for the good of the company and myself I took a de...Expand for more
motion back to a froint line manager and moved into maintenance. So if it doesn't work right I and my tech's make it work.
Then in April 2008, I left Anheuser-Busch and went to Ball Corporation just before A-B was bought out by the Belgium InBev nad thus maintaining my record of always in my adult life working for an American owned organization more than 120 years old. I am the Electrical Supervisor at the Can plant in Fairfield, CA, which pretty much means if electricity flows through it and it is not an a full fledged computer, I'm responsible for keeping it running. Ball is a great company and I'm happier than I was at A-B.
Military
When I graduted college in December of 1994 I received my commission in the US Navy. I began my wandering life that continued until May of 2000. During that time I moved or deployed at intervals of not more than 6 months. I was stationed in Newport RI, Pearl Harbor HI, Orlando FL, Balston Spa NY, Bremerton WA, Pensacola FL, and Denver CO. I did two deployments to the Arabian Gulf. One on a Destroyer and one on an Aircraft carrier. I visited Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia twice, as well as, India, Figii, and the Solomon Islands. I made it to Lieutenant (Captain in the land services) on active duty and Lieutenant Commander (Major) in the reserves. Very glad to have done it, but glad not to be doing it anymore.
