Joseph's Story
After I graduated from high school I joined the Army. I joined as a Combat Engineer and went to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I spent 5 years in the Army reserves with my best friend Richard Harley. In 1986 I went active duty. I went to Korea for my first duty station. After I left Korea I went to Fort Carson, Colorado. Germany I traveled all over Europe. While in Germany, my unit was deployed to Operation Desert Shield and was later changed to Desert Storm. I spent 7 months in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait. I got out of the Army In 1992. I went to work for Clearfield City. I met my wife at the Davis Lanes Cafe and after living with her for two years we got married. She passed away in June of 2015 of cancer. I presently work at the Veterans hospital here in Salt Lake City.
