Joseph's Story
I probably should have done this a long time ago but I never got around to it. I never know what to say on these things without it coming out like a resume but here it goes. I'm completely content with how my life has progressed so far since graduating from high school. I must say that I've accomplished everything I wanted to in my life and more. I joined the Marine Corps as an infantryman after graduating from high school. That go my start in counter terrorism. My primary job was air assault. Yes, I was one of the guys who fast roped and rappelled out of helicopters into war zones.
After leaving the Marine Corps 4 years later I went to college and studied criminal justice. I was later hired on by the U.S. Department of Defense as Federal Police Officer while simultaneously serving a second enlistment in the U.S. Army as a Psychological Operations Specialist (airborne). Those were fun times. For example, I worked the Timothy McVeigh trial and the G8 Summit. I was one of only a few people allowed on then British Prime Minister Tony Blairâs hotel floor.

er, I obtained my bachelorâs degree in criminal justice graduating cum laude. Due to defense cuts I lost my job with the Department of Defense in 2000. I've been doing investigative and law enforcement related work for various colleges ever since. Iâm also working on completing my masterâs degree in organizational security management (2 classes and my capstone with masterâs thesis defense are the only classes left.) Iâm hoping to complete my masterâs degree and submit my first ever article to a peer reviewed publication on a counter terrorism related topic next year. Ultimately I want to teach or become a director of security operations for a major company soon. Those jobs are tough to get though.
I never got around to marriage. I never saw myself as a family man anyway. Plus, Iâve always been highly ambitious. My goals always trumped everything else. That's just who I am I guess. In my free time I like to shoot, go fishing, trade stocks, and study macroeconomics.
I know itâs been a long time. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch.
