Joseph's Story

Life After HS went to CCC where I promptly dropped out instead of flunking out. Enlisted in the Army & went to boot camp in Aug 66. Went to Ft Lewis then Vietnam, came home, met my wife during a short stint at SSA April 1969 - love at first sight, engaged within 1 week, married June 20,1970. Worked a lot of jobs over the years, went back in the Army and spent 3 years in Panama, came home in 1976, bounced around on a few more jobs until 1978 when the lights went off and I went back to school at the age of 30, full time days. BS Accounting from UB in Dec 80, passed CPA exam, bounced around a little more and have since settled in a software job since July 1985. 2932 2 boys, July 1977 & Oct 1979. Now have 4 grandchildren. I am still the oldest child in the family. Kosuth Rd NE I became a Christian in 1971, attended St. Timothy's Episcopal church in Catonsville for 18 years and since October, 1989 have attended Catonsville Assembly of God. Treasurer for 12 years and now work/play/teach elementary age kids at the church - very fulfilling. VBS is a favorite as I take a week's vacation and typically have a role as a villain who, in the end, accepts the Gospel and undergoes a transformation. I have been Wyatt Burp in the old west and Dr. Voldevader, a mad scientist on a space station. This year, 2009, I get to be a good guy patterned after Indiana Jones. I've named the character Illinois Smith, my friends just call me "Ill"; should be fun. I am waiting to see how the story line develops. Palm Bay Bought a row house in Catonsville in 1983 & still live there. No desires for a big house, land, etc. Really too lazy to take care of property, plus I'd rather spend time doing other things. FL Typical aging process - Type 2 diabetes & coronary artery disease are with me now. Have had angioplasty & a triple bypass, but have recovered well. 32905 Looking forward to retirement i.e. doing what I'd rather do, rather than working for a living, but will probably have to work until age 68 - 70. As long as I can that's OK because I mostly enjoy my job. 443 All in all I'm satisfied with how my life has worked out and wouldn't change much - no complaints. 956 2008 - m...Expand for more
y Mom is still going strong, my youngest sister has passed on as well as my Dad. In 2008 I marched my mom down the aisle & gave her away. 6519 Umpired baseball when my kids played, did HS ball for 9 years, still umpire, but restrict myself to 10 - 13 year olds - they still want to PLAY. After the 2008 Baseball season I retired from umping - knees & voice just don't recover like they used to. joe. I don't have too many unfilled dreams. I've been to Germany, Italy and the Holy Land. Places I still want to see: a restored WWII bomber base in England, The crosses in Normandy, the forest where the Battle of the Bulge as fought and the pyramids in Egypt. riesett@ I have developed an interest in WWII and been able to fly in a B17. This interest was kindled by the book "The Greatest Generation". I have come to believe that perhaps our parents really were the the greatest generation and we have let them and ourselves down by what we've allowed our government and culture to become. gmail.com Politically, I am at the point where I believe that Democrats and Republicans have successfully monopolized the government and divided the country. I personally have given up and no longer vote or participate (except for paying taxes). Moving, not retiring to FL October 2009, marched my Mom down the aisle & gave her away to Dad III. May, 2011 widowed after almost 41 years of marriage. Cancer is a terrible thing. September 2012 remarried - life is good again - hope for a long second time around. Mom gave me away! Involved in Children's ministries at Calvary Chapel Melbourne and am really enjoying getting in costume and doing storytelling and skits to kids 4yo to 3rd grade. Did a bucket list trip to England, France, Luxembourg and Germany. Saw the airfield in England the beaches in France, where my dad had been in Luxembourg and Dachau. Have friends in Germany so a return trip is possible. Expect to return to Israel with my wife in 2016. (Didn't happen) Flew in a biplane, A B-25 and a closed cabin twin engine biplane over the last few years. Am building a house, was fun at first, now I am worn out. Mom died 1/6/2022 Been married to Patty for 10 years now. 09/15/2022
