Joseph's Story
Joseph lives in Leland , North Carolina. Joseph is in a relationship.
1957 - Joined the US Marine Corp.
1959 - Joined the Detroit Highwaymen Motorcycle Club. (aka Joe the Barber)
1960 - Started racing motorcycles.
1965 - Met (on a Blind Date That she Arranged) and Married Alma.
1967 - Started working Detroit Diesel - GM
1969 - We started Racing Motorcycle Sidecars.
1974 - We were the only American , and the Only American Husband & Wife Sidecar Team
Ever to race the Isle of Man TT in England , a major International motorcycle race.
They used the Public roads going around the Island as the track. 1 lap was 38 mile
around , thru small towns and over a mountain. Our race was 3 laps. We started

1975 & 1976 - We won the US/Canadian Sidecar Racing Championships.
1988 - Took early retirement from Detroit Diesel - GM
1989 - We purchased a carnival concession French Fry Stand named the Townfryers. We
went on the road , living in a motor home , working at c...Expand for more
ounty Fairs all over the
Midwest , IL , In , Oh , Mi , Ar , TX , AL , and FL. We also moved to FL.
We had 1 Hell of a GOOD Time working in this Business and meeting the people at the
different county fairs.
2006 - Alma Died. Before she died she told to go back into the concession business.
2007 - Built and went back on the road with Daffy Dan's Salt Water Taffy Stand.
2013 - Sold Daffy Dan's Taffy Stand.
After almost 24yrs working in the Carnival/Fair & Business I Retired to FL.
2015 - I was contacted by a friend who I worked with at GM 38yrs ago. Alma & I had
maintained contact with thru the yrs. Her Husband had died a yr earlier. We started
to talk and after a month she convinced me to join her in NC.
2021 - Looking back on all of it I am 1 Lucky Guy. To have Married 1 Great Lady , to have been
a motorcycle club that was a bunch of Crazy Guys , to have done all the other things.
I thank God for such an Exceeding , Happy and Fun Filled Life!!!!!
