Joseph's Story
when i was 21, and still in college, a friend gave me a 35mm camera. it changed my life and i never looked back. fastforward a few years: i moved to san francisco in the early 80's and went to graduate school at the san francisco art institute, where i trained as a painter and photographer, then i taught for a few years at UC Berkeley, SF City College, and San Jose State. then one day i got a job offer from the University of Illinois, where i had done my undergraduate work in psychology. fastforw...Expand for more
ard again: i've been in champaign for almost 20 years now. my artwork has moved from painted photo murals to web-based and virtual reality narratives. i get to travel often for shows and lectures, especially to europe and asia; still teach but also work as an associate director of the school of art+design, and part-time as an associate provost. i met and fell in love with a cajun girl and we have two daughters. we live in a big brick house on a quiet street with a huge dog and two itsy bitsy cats.
