I guess I could say that the first 27 years after graduation was the peak of my life with me constantly on the go working as a hairstylist during the day and from time to time serving drinks in the bars. Whatever I did surrounded me with people that made it easy for me to communicate while volunteering community services, doing fundraisers for various charities and eventually became a public figure dressing up as a female to entertain and emcee the night circuit of Honolulu, Waikiki and in the LGBT Community. In 1983 and 1985 I presided over the Imperial Court of Hawaii, a gay non profit organization syndicated throughout the United States and Canada raising funds to assist both the LGBT and local communities for various aide and causes. During my two reigns in office my team raised over $300,000 in Hawaii and abroad. In 1985 I was elected by the LGBT community as Hawaii’s first Miss Gay Pride and later spearheaded as a co-chairman to form Hawaii’s Gay Pride Week & Parade Organization. With a full schedule to handle I still had time to co-produce the extravagant Universal Showqueen Pageant for another 10 years. One of the highlights of my life was in the summer of 1994 to be invited to New York to represent Hawaii at the 25th Anniversary of Stonewall the beginning of Gay Pride and be presented on stage at the Pride Rally in Central Park in front of over one million spectators.
