Joy's Story
Let me see, What is Joy's story? What ever happened to me? Well, I have had to put a few schools on my list to try to find anyone, or someone. Of course at this point I do not have an all acsess pass, so anyone I have found and anyone that has signed my guestbook, the names are blurry so I don't know who you are anyway. Gotta get me that pass! Well, after a few schools in Seattle, we moved to Everett and I went to Everett High and managed right away to find the party folks and friends were made. I had lots of fun with people that I havent been able to locate yet. Candy Robinson, Dennis Cooper, Butch (Duane) Peticlerc, My best buddy Charlie Wheeler ( I miss you Charlie, where ever you are) Nancy Nodland, oh there were so many. Then round about "75" or "76" I ended up hanging with friends alot up in Vancouver BC. Well, it is such a beautiful city, and of course I managed to find alot of party folks there, and again friends were made. Gee, Im starting to see a pattern, eh? Oops, sorry about the "eh". I guess after being here for 35 yrs or so, I guess its understandable, eh? (lol) So over the years, I have worked at a few jobs. Resteraunts, recreation center as Building Supervisor, Production Buyer for the Vancouver Playhouse Theater Company, Property & maintinance manager for a non profit society where I worked with women who just came out of prison. ( That was interesting ) Delivered Auto parts, etc. etc. Lots of different things over the years. In 2004, I was in a bad car accident in Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia, Lots of broken things. ( I used to brag that I had never spent the night in the hospital ) so needless to say that I have been on Disability ever since. So the body doesn't work so good anymore, but that won't stop me. Im not doing much these days but I live on the water in Downtown Vancouver in the Olympic Village (built for the Olympics a couple years ago). I live here with my pup Lola, and we're just living life day by day. So yes, in case anyone was wondering, I did survive! And I must say, Ive had a hell of a time so far. It's all good! Oh, by the way, my photo is not exactly current. Hard to find a good Joy picture. This one is from the 80's. I'll try to find a more current, wrinkley photo. Lol!
Because, being a teenager, I was at the mercy of my Moms decisions, we moved around alot. I think the time of my best teenage memories were when I grew up at Parkwood Elementary K-6 and then as alot of the people I grew up with went to Butler Jr. High. ught I was too cool to show that side, and within a couple days, the party bunch, fun people ( in my opinion) found me, or I found them, whatever. My best friend in the world was Cindy Rotermund, and I hung around with a group of girls, me Cindy, Tami, Robin, Lori (With the bull house, that was a fun place to hang out) Karen, Janet and I know I'm forgeting alot. I havent talked to anyone from those days for soooo long that the memories need prompting.Its hard to do that for yourself. Wow, I think we must have walked a lifetimes worth just motoring around, getting from this party to that, or so & so's boyfriend lives here or there. To the Crest, 2 movies for 50 cents. The speedy mart or 7-11 whatever, cheap wine in the bush, partys girls, boys, laughs, some "mean girl "crap, some doing the right thing, some doing wrong. It was all fun. I have so many great memories from those days. Cindy and I decided we would save our lunch money (50 cents a day) and buy a pony ($50.00). So we saved as much as we could, it wasn't easy I remember, cause we had to buy smokes too. lol (.45 cent at the drug store) those were the days. Anyway, what we didn't have, my mom chipped in and we had our pony Shilo! We loved her. I kept her in my garage, we lived on Perkins way. I would ride her to school in the morning, put her in Cindy's back yard until school was out and we would do our thing, ride, ride to see boys, ride some more , ride to see more boys. Boys were trouble! lol What an awesome time that was for me. I so wish that we had been more stable, and stayed living in one spot. I hated leaving there. That was a very important time in my growing up and just wish I would have kept the connections. You just don't understand that stuff when your young and making those decisions. I thought I had all the time in the world, and it would all work out fine. Well, as we all learn, it just isn't that easy. We have to work at relationships. All of those girls that were my friends, they meant alot. Good and bad. It was all learning. Ive always learned things the hard way. I always wanted to grow up fast. I thought it was so I could get into the bar, but I was just anxious to get going. When you do get where your going, don't forget where you've been. One thing Ive noticed is that if people were ignorant to you in school days, they will still be the same now! You know who you biotches are, don't you!! Bye bye biotches, hello old friends. Ive now found Cindy! It is so great to talk to her again. She has done real well for herself. Im so happy for her. Friends are forever!!
