Joyce & Doug's Story
Life
We bought our first house in '98. We have lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills Near Kings Canyon National Park, E. of Fresno since '83.
Update 4-21-09
Doug was laid off last year after 24 years 8 months with NAVCO Security Systems no severance no pension just buh-bye.
He was on unemployment for two months then got on with the forest service as a seasonal paid lookout.
In September, a new job fell in his lap by word-of-mouth from a NAVCO client.
I believe that my job is secure, I have been driving school bus for 25 years with Kings Canyon unified school District.
Greg is in Bahrain, he will be eligible to retire in October after 20 years in...Expand for more
the Navy. He has one last cycle to make chief in order to stay in longer.
His wife Arran is working at the Navy Federal credit Union in San Diego and biding her time until he comes home.
Danae and Kevin moved off base to a house in the town of Lemoore. Danae is working in merchandising, taking online classes, and trying to keep track of four lively girls.
Kevin is moonlighting at Wal-Mart. He will retire next summer after 20 years in the Marine Corps.
Doug will be back to volunteering as a fire lookout on the weekends this summer.
