Joyce's Story
I have had a very interesting life since I graduated from Birmingham high school. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to UCLA And earned a BA in education and social sciences. While a sophomore, I met the man to whom I would be married for 47 years. My husband, George and I Had 2 daughters. George and I were educators and entertainers, traveled all over the state of California and Hawaii doing programs in high schools and colleges. We also had many television appearances, many were for PBS, educational TV shows, some seen all over the world! We were known as The Sharp Show. By the time our children were in junior high and high school, we both decided to go back to our roots, and I began teaching high school English and humanities, Which I did for 27 years, including 17...Expand for more
years at Granada Hills HS. My husband taught psychology at Loyola, Pepperdine, UCLA, and some other local colleges. Our older daughter is a teacher, and our youngest daughter, also a UCLA alum, worked for Spielberg's Shoah Foundation for several years, now for Culver City Downtown Business Association, doing social media. I lost my dear husband 7 years ago, to a rare form of bone marrow cancer, a year after I retired from teaching. I have been dating a lovely man for 3 years, who is a theater sound designer, semi-retired. I'm living back in the old neighborhood, Lake Balboa! I was in 16 Voices while in h.s., Collegial musicum at UCLA, and now sing karaoke and occasionally with Big bands, etc. for fun! Love my little poodle, Daisy, who keeps me in shape walking the neighborhood!
