Joyce's Story

Life Our club has been up and running since 6/06 and is doing very well. Over 7 years now. Our employees are the best! Couldn't do it without them. Starting second club soon. Bought the land, working on the architectural plans now. I have 2 boys and a girl; Eric, Joe, Meagan. Three out of three are college graduates the last one starts Pharmacy school in Aug 2013 UCD. I love to travel. Been to Greece, Egypt and Turkey. Went to the Eastern Bahamas with Act for America and Brigitte Gabriel. Went to the Western Bahamas with a group for a friend's birthday party. Stayed a week in Sweden and visited the Volvo plant. Stayed in Norway for a few days. Visited Canada many times. Have a time-share in Whistler. Stayed in Germany and accidentally visited Dachau. Got lost but decided to look around. Haunting. Bought some dynamite emeralds in Cartagena, Columbia. Spent a week in England. I never want to see another castle - ever. They have a much different idea of what constitues a country club. Theirs includes cows and chickens. Ours: tennis courts, pools, etc. Cruised the Mexican Riviera. Was in Florida in January. Going to Whistler in March, Hawaii in the summer. Took a Trans-Atlantic cruise for 2 weeks and went to the Canary Islands, Portugal, Spain, and France. Rented a car in Spain and saw Spain, stayed in paradore de Cardona and drove to France. Stayed in the Medieval Cite de Carcassone. Took the bullet train into Paris and saw sights there for a week. Always wanted to do that. Had to brush up on my French. I have a little Pom-Peke named Tahnee. She's about 12 yrs. old, cream colored. My ex died last summer very unexpectedly. Quite a shock. Left my sons very well off. They are down in Mexico with my daughter for spring break. Life is changing. o-day. My heros are people who persevere through adverse conditions and have moral leadership. Stand up for right. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Carla C., because we were really great friends years ago.. I have changed my landscaping around a little. Took a lot of grass out, added a rock patio, bushes and trees. The amazing ability of my children to love and support me and surprise me. If I won $100 million, I'd give part of it to help abused children, then spend the rest on my kids, friends and put in my rock patio. My current age is 62. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be decrepit. I was so completely wrong. Every year I would like this business to do better and better. Then we'll get a good manager and he'll send us a check so we can keep cruising. My best friend would tell you I'm smart, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as goofy. My one do over: As soon as I graduated high school I would leave earlier instead of hanging around for 5 years like I did. Better yet, run away from home and lie about my age, just so long as I wasn't "on the streets" just to get away from "family." In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by breathing. Sandy Jones and I met in the army. She was a nurse and we shared a two-man room. She could make me laugh like no one else. She was so easy going and was a real friend to me. She had a crazy, adventurous side to her sense of humor. We'd think up something funny to do and then pull it off. She helped out a lot of people who needed some minor nursing when they didn't want to go to the hospital. I really admired her zest for life. What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? Most people in high school didn't know me at all. My first job was at a golf course, where I got paid hardly anything to fix snacks and coffee for golfers.
