Judi's Story

In the early 70's I married and found myself with two children; Ryan in 74 and Courtney in 76. At that time my husband was a civil engineer who was transfered several times. Our moves took us to Marietta Ohio, Port Huron Michigan, Miami Florida and the metro Atlanta area. We divorced in 1986. While in Atlanta I was the marketing manager for a construction equipment manufacturer. In 1988 I moved to a little town southwest of Seattle called Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor is absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever lived. While in Washington I was the North American Division manager for a concrete equipment manufacturer based in Osaka, Japan. I was the only woman in a company of over 900 employees. That was not only interesting, but very educational. Ryan, then Courtney moved back to the Atlanta area in the early 90's. The Japanese were swapped out for the Italians in 96. I was a co-founder of the NA division of a concrete equipment manufacturer located in Verona. I have to say I preferred my trips to Italy to those of Japan. The culture, history, wine and cuisine were much more to my liking. A decision was made to relocate the NA division to the Denver area in 1998. I left one of the wettest (and greenest) places on earth for one of the driest (and sunniest) places. It only took me a few years to love and appreciate the beauty of the mountains and the west. This is about as far east as I could live in North America. Living here has afforded me the opportunity to explore the mountains and delve into our western heritage. When not traveling, I a...Expand for more
m usually in the mountains either hiking or on horse back. I am a person of the west. (probably always have been!) Two years ago I changed countries again and now am the North American Manager of a German-based international trade journal for the construction industry. I only travel 2 or 3 times a month, but the international travel is much more extensive as we hold conferences in Russia, Australia and South Africa, with frequent trips to Germany. My son Ryan is a developer and married to a high school English teacher. They have a son, Maddox, who is 1 1/2. He will be on HGTV Curb Appeal this fall! Courtney is the CFO of the US division of a German-based provider of printing equipment. Her husband is manager of the IT department for the FDIC. (been too busy recently) They have three children, my oldest granddaughter Morgan is 10 and an independent spirit, lover and protector of nature and animals, a very smart flower child. Her brother, Mason, is 8 and a mathematical whiz, gets that from him mother. Courtney's youngest daughter Madelyn, is 3 three and a pistol. As often as I can, I am visiting them in Atlanta! At our graduation ceremony I remember thinking about the year 2000 and wondering what I would be doing and where I would be doing it. Not even with my imagination did I ever think that my life would be so rich or rewarding. I have been blessed with a beautiful family, great health, wonderful friends, a fabulous career and the ability to explore the world! Living high on life in the Rocky Mountain West! Ciao!
